Expanding Beyond a Lemonade Stand into Kidpreneurship

While in our state, it is still a bit chilly outside to set up and sell refreshing, cold lemonade stands, the boys took current events- Teacher Appreciation Week, to not only say thank you to their teachers but also to create a product that would say thank you to teachers across our community.

Being aware of cost and profits, we headed to the Dollar Store to see where we could get nice and inexpensive materials. And voila, the idea to make teacher flower pens in vases with thank you notes was created. I lended the boys money for supplies, making note of how much was spent, and they got to work. A few hours later, they had a product they could sell to our neighborhood parents who didn’t have time to run out to the store and pick up a gift for the teachers.

The boys picked out a local animal charity and decided they would donate 10% of their profits to the shelter. And after paying Mom back for the material costs, hopefully they’d have enough to buy a fun toy or two.

The neighbhorhood came out in support and a bit of money was earned. Next week they’ll be taking their money to the animal shelter to hand deliver their donation in person too.

There are so many ways to be kidpreneurs beyond lemonade stands. Who knows what will be next!
